CrowdCanon

Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-08-24. This policy explains how CrowdCanon handles personal information.

Information we collect

  • Account information such as your email address, handle, display name, profile photo, age information, and optional profile details.
  • Content and activity such as lists, rankings, comments, messages, follows, reactions, reports, topic interests, and uploaded images.
  • Technical information needed to operate and secure the service, including device identifiers, push tokens, diagnostics, and basic network information.

Photos and face data

  • Users may optionally select photos from their device’s photo library for profile images, list covers, item images, and other user-submitted content. CrowdCanon stores the selected photo and resized or reformatted copies needed to display it.
  • CrowdCanon does not collect, create, or retain facial-recognition data, face meshes, facial maps, face models, facial coordinates, facial landmarks, biometric identifiers, or other information derived from a face. CrowdCanon does not use Face ID, TrueDepth, ARKit face tracking, Apple Vision facial analysis, or third-party facial-analysis services.
  • Photos are processed only to validate the image, correct its orientation, centre-crop or resize it, convert it into display formats, moderate it, and display it as requested. We do not use photos to identify or authenticate people or infer age, ethnicity, emotion, health, or other personal characteristics.
  • Supabase stores private originals and the image versions CrowdCanon displays. Vercel temporarily processes uploaded images to create those display versions; the temporary in-memory processing copy is discarded after the request. We do not provide photos or face-related information to advertising platforms, analytics providers, data brokers, or facial-analysis providers.
  • Uploaded photos remain until they are replaced, removed, or deleted through the applicable account or moderation process. Account deletion removes account-linked profile photos, personal-list covers, and private originals. Images contributed to shared catalogue content may remain while used by the community until removed through moderation or a valid privacy, safety, or rights request. Because CrowdCanon does not create face-derived data, it has no facial templates, landmarks, coordinates, maps, models, or biometric records to retain or delete.

How we use information

  • To provide accounts, rankings, recommendations, messaging, notifications, moderation, support, and other CrowdCanon features.
  • To personalize feeds and topic discovery, protect users, investigate abuse, prevent fraud, and improve reliability.
  • To send service communications and push notifications according to your device and account settings.

Sharing and service providers

  • Public profiles, published lists, rankings, comments, and other public contributions are visible to other people.
  • We use infrastructure providers such as Supabase, Vercel, Expo, and Apple to host data, authenticate accounts, deliver the app, and send notifications.
  • We require service providers that handle personal information for CrowdCanon to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable law, and to use it only to provide their contracted services.
  • We may disclose information when required by law, to protect people or the service, or as part of a business transfer. We do not sell personal information.

Retention, choices, and deletion

  • You can update profile, interest, messaging, notification, and sensitive-content choices in the app.
  • You can permanently delete your account from Edit Profile. Account-linked personal data and contributions are removed according to our deletion process.
  • Shared catalog entities and de-identified aggregate ranking data may remain after deletion so other users’ rankings continue to work. We may retain limited records when required for security, legal, or fraud-prevention purposes.

Safety, children, and changes

  • CrowdCanon is not intended for children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child provided personal information without appropriate permission.
  • We use reasonable safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
  • We may update this policy as the service changes. The effective date shown on this page identifies the current version.
